This is Paulami Joshi
Optometrist. Marketer. And then – spices won. Born in Kolkata and raised across India, including Mumbai, Paulami grew up inside one of the world’s most complex and alive food cultures. In 2017, she moved to the Netherlands and started doing what she does best: sharing it.
Through her blog, Spice Trip with Paulami, workshops, and cookbooks, she builds a community around one simple belief: Indian food deserves to be understood, not just ordered. Her debut, De Bijbel van de Indiase Keuken, a 500-page journey through India’s culinary regions, was shortlisted for the Gouden Kookboek. Twice.
One of her favorite stories? Mushrooms. In India, they’re often seen as a dirty ingredient – not something that belongs in the kitchen. Paulami challenged that head-on and included a mushroom recipe made specifically for a Dutch audience. It became one of the most popular recipes in the book. That’s Paulami: turning assumptions into the most memorable thing on the plate.
